Attendance-Monitoring Smartphone App Launched

The Attendance-Monitoring Smartphone App was successfully launched on the 2nd January 2013. The app enables students to record their attendance by using a simple check-in and check-out system. The system is now fully operational in all our course centres around the country, and for all levels (CAP 1/CAP2/FAE).

The attendance app is a web based system which captures when students attend lectures by recording:

Who the student is
Time and location (via GPS)

This is then matched to the student database and timetable to record specific instances of attendance.

We would like to thank all students for their co-operation since the launch of the app.

Hints and Tips

Below are some useful hints and tips for using the app:

Be sure your phone is set to allow location based functionality.
To check-in in, type checkin.charteredaccountants.ie into your browser bar.
Passwords are case-sensitive, be sure your auto-correct function does not change it for you!
If you are having difficulties checking in, clear the cookies from your phone and try again.

Finally…. Students who do not have a smart phone, can check-in via the library PCs in CA House Dublin and Belfast.

Student Travel Card – Submit Your Application Now

Students that are currently in a training contract with an authorised training firm, are eligible to avail of the student travel card at a cost of €12. The card offers exclusive discounts of up to 40% off on Irish Rail, Dublin Bus, DART and LUAS as well as offering over 200 retail discounts nationwide.

Are You Repeating Examinations in 2013?

Students on their second or later attempt at CAP 1, CAP 2 and FAE are required submit an examination entry form accompanied by the relevant fees. The closing date for CAP 1 and CAP 2 submissions was the 8^th February 2013. The closing date for FAE Submissions is the 15^th February 2013.

Please note if you are participating in a 1st attempt course programme, your examination registration has been incorporated in your course enrolment and you are not required to submit a separate Examination Entry Form.

CAP 2 Financial Accounting Continuous Assessment

The first CAP 2 Financial Reporting Continuous Assessment took place on Saturday 12th January 2013. As the Financial Reporting assessment was a new addition this year, CASSI sent a survey to students who sat the assessment, to gauge their feedback which was collated and forwarded to the examiner for consideration during marking. The results of the assessment will be issued the week ending 22nd February 2013. The Institute would like to thank all students who took part in the survey.

The Institute launched dedicated student Facebook and Twitter pages called
Chartered Accountants Ireland Students Facebook and CAIStudents Twitter in September 2012. To date, more than 200 students have liked the facebook page and we have over 150 followers on twitter. The social networking pages provide students with the latest updates about the qualification.
